I was brought up in Brynmawr, a small town on the south eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The dramatic surrounding countryside continues to have a big influence on my work-though this is not always obvious.
I am self taught and started painting seriously in the 70's

Where others (probably advisedly) nurture a recognisable style and subject or maybe go for a series of paintings related by some common theme I prefer to pluck my ideas from the ether, guided by the hand of some unseen muse.

I don't like talking about where my ideas come from or what they are about as I feel that may spoil the experience of a painting I regard any viewers ideas as good as mine.
My influences started at an early age with Walt Disney and Ursula Hourihane while later inspiration was found in the work of Turner and John Martin.
