Andrew is 42 years old and was born and lives in Cardiff. He studied art during his school years and went on to do a Foundation Course in Fine Art at Cardiff University. Andrew pursued a career in business but has continued to develop his ability as a painter. This has seen his development from an abstract background influenced by form and primal intuition to a more figurative and realistic style that relies on his interpretation of visual and photographic evidence of both contemporary and historical Welsh society. He is strongly influenced by the historical significance of Wales and its industrial past and is currently creating a series of paintings depicting Welsh Industrial Heritage and the subsequent changes in society. This work forms the backbone of a portfolio that is being developed for a MA in Fine Art which he is planning to undertake in 2008.
