Jenny Jones's Biography
Born 8th April 1943
Jenny has always lived in Merthyr Tydfil, after many years seeing to family matters and retiring from an administrative job, decided to follow her lifelong dream to paint.
She paints under her maiden name of Jenny Jones.
Jenny has developed a contemporary figurative style, using acrylics. She creates a gathering of people, and by the use of colour brings vibrancy to the painting that will in turn give the viewer a feeling of pleasure, maybe reminding them of happy days.
The colours and the mood are set with a few main groups of people. The viewer is encouraged to see bands of colour in the clothes and the environment rather than the traditional method of shading. As the picture progresses other figures emerge as imagination is allowed to evolve. Usually the children come last as they find their place in the composition, adding a little humour into the painting as the viewer looks more closely. The added warmth the children provide fix the image and finish the work.
The artists 'other' figurative style essentially places one or two primary colours within a monochrome scene. When the viewer looks at the blocks of colour they will see that there is no perspective, but rather the figures are positioned to give the impression that they are sitting or standing.
